A Raw Juice Feast
Nicola commented this morning… “your blog.. remember that?” and errmmm yeah of course I do *grin* I just haven’t felt like looking at it, which is a pretty crap attitude I know but hey, I was pre-menstrual and a grumpy old bag!
So anyway, here I am! Helloooo and I hope you’ve been great! Or naughty and if so, tell me allll about it as I have been pretty damn well behaved!!! I am almost excited about getting in my bikini despite my period starting yesterday .. hahahah I had to write that as I know a few people that will go TMI!!! (too much information) which has made me laugh out loud at the thought.
I have been following 7lbs in 7 Days raw juice fast (or feast as it is popularly known in the raw foody circles). Yep – don’t fall over in shock but I actually did what I said I was going to do in last week’s video, I went out bought a load of fruit n veg and started it straight away so I’m presently on Day 6 at the moment.
So how’s it been?
Well, surprisingly ok actually. I have been running for 30 mins in the morning and then walking twice for at least 20 mins during the day too – well, apart from the weekend when I was a bit of a vegetable – the crappy weather inspired me to sit on my fat ass instead.
Ummm so what DID I do? Well I start off my day with a cup of hot water with some fresh lime then about an hour later I have my first juice. Jason lists juices to make and how frequently to have them and I found them really tasty – some were just too sweet tho which is amazing considering what a terrible sweet tooth I’m known for so I just did as he suggested and swapped them around a bit and umm yes, I did tinker and do my own recipe today with more greens in it. So after the first one, I then had one roughly every 3 hours throughout the day and drank some water too.
By Saturday I was REALLY ready to chew something – he does warn this’ll probably happen but boy, what a craving it was *lol* So when I went round to Nicola’s for some Britain’s Got Talent (supposedly) viewing pleasure Saturday evening, I decided I was going to eat with her and had some chicken with a lot of salad. Funnily enough, I felt kinda heavy within about 15 mins of finishing but because it had been a conscious decision to do it and I’d made sure I chewed it really well I refused to feel guilty. By the way – I’ve not drunk ANY wine this week – normally I’d have some on a Friday and/or Saturday but didn’t because of the feast and didn’t really miss it either.
What else have I eaten that I shouldn’t have? Umm… I’ve had 3 chocolate digestive biscuits and a tub of cottage cheese (which was bloomin’ lovely) but that is ALL! Pretty damn good eh! On the whole it’s been ok and I’ve not been constantly thinking about food which is quite freeing.
Interestingly, the hardest part about it all has been the attitudes of people who’ve asked me what I’m doing. I was chatting online with some friends and after one said they were stuffed from eating a full cooked traditional English breakfast I commented that I’d love to chew on something but am on juices for 7 days… the questions began. OMG I had people saying stuff like – do a urine test at the end of the week you’ll see your sugar levels will be sky high; juicing all that fruit is bad for me; without fiber I’ll be ill; and on and on and on it went.. In the end I said – WOW funny how me saying I’m going to be eating fruit and vegetables in their natural raw form for 7 days has you all worried about my health and wellbeing and even saying it’s a dangerous thing to do, when our other friend has just said she’s eaten a heart attack on a plate and all you said about that was ‘mmmmm’…
And on that note I’m off for a walk!
