RawRRR! Sarah’s Super Green Smoothie

The greener way to start your day (yes, you just KNOW it’s gonna start coming out that colour the other end too!).
Sarah’s Super Green Smoothie
- 1″ Root Ginger, peeled (more if you like it hotter)
- 1″ slice pineapple
- 1 courgette (zucchini)
- 2 generous handfuls kale
- 2 generous handfuls spinach
- chunk of lemon, unwaxed with rind on
Juice that lot up then pour into a blender and add
- half avocado
- half a small, peeled, frozen banana
- about tbsp of Udos oil
- 2 tsp Spirulina
Whizz it all up, pour and enjoy slowwwwwly
What does it taste like? Well it is sweet but the lemon and ginger help offset it and it is sort of thick and very filling which is what I wanted this morning to take the thought of toast and jam out of my head *lol*

Sarah,
I have been eating raw for a few months now and have lost about 40 lbs (yea, I’m a yank). The other day at work I tried to sneak out a fart and one of my co-workers busted me. He said, “I know it was you because it smells like salad!” It actually made me fell as if I were making progress.

What is Udos oil? I’ve never heard of that before.

Hiya Helen
Udo’s oil is a vegan friendly blend of the good oils essential for human health developed by Udo Erasmus. You can read more on his website at http://udoerasmus.com/products/oil_blend_en.htm and if you do a search for the oil you’ll find many stockists online, and it’s probably held at your local health food shop to.
I have some daily blended into a smoothie or sometimes I use it in dressings on a salad and highly recommend it!

Rik made me laugh out loud too
I have to say Ruf’s farts never smell of salad… and if he’s been eating chickpeas, I need a gasmask!
Someone else recommended Udos oil recently, I shall have to go check that out!
As to your shake, it sounds really nice – but how does it taste? Come on, be honest

omg I LOVE green juices and smoothies. If you’re not used to them, start off by putting more fruit in than veg. You’ll find your tastes gradually change and you want it less sweet after a while. I have loads of fun just bunging whatever takes my fancy in and I’m always honest with what it tastes like – I’ve made some truly minging drinks I can tell you *lol*

I have to put celery in all my smoothies – I just love the taste! I’ve started taking wheatgrass so I guess that would be a good substitute for Spirulina?

Hiya Helen and congratulations on your great weight loss! Just been taking a look
I tend to alternate the super green foods I take and I just love spirulina, so good for you. I’m going to try growing my own wheat grass to do shots, I love the taste, but remembered how very much like marmite it was for the group of people I was with when I first tried it hahaha – I loved it but omg, some of the faces lol.
